Milo's Story

Thank you for taking time to visit our page.

We are Shane and Hayley Marshall, the proud parents of polar bear Milo. Milo became instagram famous @TheMarshallHobbyFarm overnight and seemed to have a cult following. Our online community seemed to love him just as much as we didWe loved to see your happy comments, as you followed our floofy boy and we watched him bring joy to many.

I started posting about daily adventures on our little hobby farm. The farm had sheep, goats, llamas, and 2 Great Pyrenees puppies After a few posts, my social media started blowing up with followers. People liked my llamas and sheep, but it was clear the main obsession was our dog Milo. THE PEOPLE LOVED MILO.  (and wanted more of him!)  With his big melon head, and constant happy vibes, it was obvious, Milo had stolen everyones hearts!

Overnight, our sweet boy seemed to be off in his behavior.  Milo was sluggish and slow to move; he didn’t want to eat his food that nightWe needed to bring him in.  Milo never turned down a meal or a treatMany tests later, watching our big polar bear suffer, we learned he had a gastric ulcer that tore through his stomachIn full blown sepsis, the doctors told us it was surgery, or it was time to say our goodbyesIn shock and without hesitation we sent him to the operating roomRemaining hopeful and having everyone we knew pray, he made it through surgery, however we were told he was still sick and needed constant care.

After his $19,000 surgery, we were told Milo was still in critical condition but hanging in there.  We were told it was a good sign he made it through surgery, and he should go home the next day. We prayed for our sweet boy that night and closed our eyes.

Early in the morning we awoke to a phone call that Milo cardiac arrested and they were doing CPR, and that we should come quickly.  By the time we arrived they had gotten him back.  Milo was still here, he was fighting.

And then everyone's worst nightmare, the vet had told us we exceeded our funds.  If we wanted to keep going (we didn’t have pet insurance) it would cost about $5,000 a day to keep him at the hospital.  He needed minimum 5 days in recovery.  At this point we didn't have any more money to spend, so we sought help from our followers.

We made a post and some Instagram stories about Milos condition, and then we prayed and waited. Immediately, our followers responded. God was on the move. Our posts went somewhat viral, and we raised just under $20,000 in 12 hours. We could not believe it. We were not only getting donations, but we were getting thousands of people praying for Milo from all over the world. People who had never prayed before, were for the first time, praying for Milo.

Unfortunately, after one day in recovery, Milo arrested again and passed away. Just like that, the dog who brought so many people joy, all over the world, was gone.  We were devastatedSocial media had given us hope that with many praying, and donations still coming in, he HAD to make it. However, God had different plans.

We prayed and prayed for some meaning in this, and then we found it.  Giving back in Milo’s name.

We are so grateful for the people who came together to help us give Milo a fighting chance.  Without you, we would’ve had to say no. We would’ve had to stop trying.

Milo lives on in our hearts every day, and although he is no longer with us, giving back in Milos name allows us to keep his spirit alive. Love Milo, a clothing brand- a simple logo, with a big meaning.  We will be donating proceeds from each sale to help as many animals as we can. Whether it be rescue shelters, vet clinics, animal therapy, service animals, etc... We pray that this brand gives back what our followers gave us, Hope.

Milos Miracle didn't happen how we wanted it too, but it doesn't mean he can't help other animals in similar situations. Through the power of donations, community, and prayer, we will save as many animals as we can.

Love, Milo.
